WordPress - Private Page & Post Tutorial
You can easily set a post or a page to private in WordPress. What does that mean? It means that no one will be able to see your content that is visiting your website.
The only exceptions are logged in users that are either Editors or Administrators. Everyone else won't be able to access that post or page. Here's how to make the post or page private:
- Go to your WordPress panel
- Navigate to the specific page or post that you want to make private by clicking on edit under its title, under Posts or Pages
- On the right side, look for "Visibility", then click "Edit" next to it
- Click on the bullet next to "Private"
- Click "OK"
- Now update the page or post
- Done
If you need more functionality then just hiding invidual posts or pages, then there are plenty of plugin options that you can use to get the features that you need.
For example, if you want to hide groups of posts/pages there's a plugin for that. You can also get plugins that will help you better limit access to content based on whether or not someone is a paid member.
Also, if you want to allow people that have the exact URL to be able to access private posts or pages, there's a plugin for that as well. All of these awesome plugins can be found by going to "Add new" under your Plugins screen, and then searching for "private".
Got a favorite plugin that you use for this? Let me hear about it in the comments section below.
You can also make your posts and pages password protected if that is something that you need to do.
